Saxana - The Girl On The Broomstick by Angelo Michajlov

Those pesky chaps from Finders Keepers have done it again. It's another curio, this time from a Czech witch flick called The Girl on the Broomstick, which is a 70s film directed by Vaclav Vorlicek who brought us such classics as Who Killed Jessie and 3 Nuts for Cinderella. This is a previously unreleased spooked-out psychedelic jazz score taken from Czechoslovakia's favourite teenage witch flick. It's better than Sabrina The Teenage Witch... But only just. The music's ace, it has an amazing funk feel to it yet the lyrics are almost spell-like. There are a few spells on this record that were penned by Czech soundtrack composer Angelo Michajlov but don't be disturbed by the sound of them. You couldn't raise a gnat's erection, never mind some demon of darkness if you recited these spells. They are just too funky! It's a very interesting record that you should Czech (ahem) out. If dabbling in witchcraft and jazz-funk is your cauldron then you will love this!!!

•    The previously unreleased spooked-out psychedelic-jazz score to 70’s Czech favourite ‘other’ award-winning teenage witch flick directed by Vaclav Vorlickek (‘3 Nuts For Cinderella’ / ‘Who Killed Jessie?’) from the studios that brought you ‘Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders’, ‘Daisies’ and ‘The Cremator’.

• The entire studio sessions (plus psychedelic effects) by Angelo Michajlov (Marta Kubisova arranger) performed by The Karel Vlach Orchestra.

• Imagine Gary Bartz and Nucleus meeting the Swedish singer Doris at a Czech pop festival with the cast of H.R. Pufnstuff as the moody stage security.

• The follow up to Finders Keepers’ critically acclaimed Czech New Wave releases ‘Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders’ (FKR009) and ‘Daisies’ (FKR013).
