The Travellers - For The Waves

For The Waves by The Travellers

4...according to our on Thu 14 Oct, 2010.

This one's a satisfying mixture of throwback elements.. Doo-woppy guitars, sweet sixties pop type vocals, Phil Spector drum beats, a slight hint of Britpop; all put together to form a tidily ambitious five-track indie pop EP. Vocalist Gemma's certainly got a fine set of pipes (Phil mentioned Catatonia in his review for the last EP and she does have a little touch of Cerys Matthews about her) and the tunes sound like they'd lodge in your head without much trouble at all given a couple of listens.. Job done I guess! Have a go on it at 33rpm, it sounds well Lynchian..

"For the Waves" is the second 5 track EP from the Travellers, inspired by the sea, the sixties and a desire to get "back to basics". Gemma's  vocal harmonies are pushed to the forefront, juxtaposed on a backdrop of psychedelic guitars, musically satisfying chord structures, and all of this "free from artificial additives". This organically grown EP will be available in october 2010 as a limited edition,  12" 45 rpm vinyl, professionally mastered by Jon Astley and pressed at Abbey Road Studios in London .
