Ruckazoid - Crush / All City

Business Lady pulled this one out to review cos the man looks like a total G on the cover with all kinda neon around him. Oh man this is tasty heavy with big booming fat kick, crunched up claps and pulsing laser synths. A prime example of forward thinking electronic hip-hop/ electro. Gotta love this mans analogue style on 'Crush' as it's a pretty flawless production and I'm totally feeling the energy. I can imagine the like of Rustie dropping this into one of his DJ sets. 'All City' on the flip is a more laid back electrofunk tune that could have come out of Ed DMX's studio. Love the classic synth sounds on this little gem.

The names Ruckazoid or Ricci Rucker may not be familiar to most, but to those who know – they know! A veteran DJ/turntablist, composer and producer, he is one of the most innovative and forward-looking artists in the global hip hop and beats world of the last decade. Happy to exist outside of the mainstream - or indeed any scene – his career has been a forward march of jaw droppingly incredible releases. From the jazz-meets-turntablist nature of his Sketcbook (Sound In Color) and Fuga (Alpha Pup) LPs, to future the hip hop of the ‘Rrrrap’ LP reworking classic accapellas through to the synth pop of the Poly group (alongside GB Gifted & Blessed) he doesn’t ever stand still. This here is a two track EP of incredible analogue sounds and melodies, lead out by a furious sounding ‘Crush’, backed with the more considered ‘All City’.
