Brother Raven are Jamie Potter and Jason E Anderson, a Seattle based duo whose primary goal is to explore the inner sanctum of the synthesizer zone. 'Diving Into The Pineapple Portal', originally made available to only a few pals on tape, has been deemed worthy of a full on vinyl release by Aguirre and it's easy to understand why. Synth exploration may be my new 'thing' at the moment but i don't shit compared to these folks. This is astral traveling space synth ambiance at it's very finest. As with all synth only affairs it bears some resemblance to kosmische pioneers like Ulrich Strauss, Cluster and Harmonia but it couples that with the positive aura you'd associate with New Age stuff. As a result It reminds of elements of Ducktails 'Landscapes' and James Ferraro's 'Discovery' LP's but it's certainly more purist than those records in much the same way as Emeralds and the like. It's a real floaty affair that would probably be of great assistance to women considering a natural birth plan. I only mean that half seriously but you know what I'm saying. This is cosmic tranquility of the highest quality....real soothing. LP also comes with a bonus tape entitled 'Eagle Vision'. You'll be pleased to hear that the sleeve art is a good as the title but I can't tell you about the tunes cause I ain't listened to it.
The synth explorations by Brother Raven recall Cluster & Harmonia with a touch of dream & fantasy. “Diving Into The Pineapple Portal” offers you a view into the craters of the synthesizer moon, seen from earth through 3D new age glasses. the original tape release of DITPP was only handed out to a few friends & artists. As this is one of their most profilic recordings, it deserves a proper release.
Brother Raven is a Seattle-based duo that creates experimental music through improvisations with synthesizers, tape, and effects. Drawing influence from synth music of the early 80s, Inuit mythology, and time travel, their music combines the atmospheric zones of space music with the positive-vibe ambiance of early new age. Formed in 2008 by Jamie Potter and Jason E Anderson. Released in an edition of 300.
Comes with an optional C40 tape: “Eagle Vision”
