This is an odd recording. I was expecting more relatively chilled stuff but then again the artists name isn't all that pleasant. This is ace submerged noise, derived from wavering frequencies of the more mid range to low-end variety - chuntering, wonky, sinister & sludgy waves of wobbly aural filth built from drones & "a preachers voice" fed into a delay pedal. The second track is not quite as lo-fi but expands on the idea of guitar distortion fed through an effects pedal. It doesn't terrify like Skullflower or early Earth but still makes a tasty, drowsy buzzing racket that could piss off yr neighbors. Enjoying even more the migraine inducing racket of track 3 with some actual notes & semblance of a melody apparent through the aural murk. I think that "tunage" may be derived from the advertised "treated piano effects" but it sounds more like a hellish psychedelic maelstrom than anything! More impressive maybe because of the relatively indecipherable and heavily immersed source material, this track becomes the highlight for me! I can leave the final piece, the effect has worked & I am happy.
The second release is by Dead Black Arms and called "Caretaker Cherry Bird".Dead Black Arms is one of the many musical projects from musician Claus Haxholm. Some of this other projects include The Doom Riot, Kanada Brothers, Satanism Around Hollywood, Tanko Oroshi and My Love We Found The Skies.
"Caretaker Cherry Bird" contains four long tracks.Track one "Tape Drones & Prayers" features layered drones and a preachers voice fed through delay pedals. The second track is electric guitar played through distortion pedals creating a dirty deep vibrating drone.Track three "Phoenix Piano" has treated piano sound effects. Finally the fourth track "With The Birds In My Garden" is solo zen like electric guitar played in a room with all the doors and windows open to the birds outside. The cd is available in an edition of 50 hand numbered copies in a dark blue card cover with paste on artwork of a 15th century woodcut.
