Dum Dum girls newie isn't a newie. It's a third pressing of their "seminal" four track EP from back when the world was a more innocent place. Before people stapled hamsters to crabs and trembled in the wake of the war on terriers. It's garage type rock which doesn't so much nod towards a Spector-style wall of sound as invite it round to your house, knock it out and chain it to the radiators in your basement. You ain't ever getting out of here, Spector wall of sound. You massive shithouse. Its a reverb swathed, punchy trip. It's not too bad if a bit one dimensional. But the songs are decent and Shoreditch fops love it so it cant be that bad right??
REISSUED!! AND not before time, album out now on Sub Pop, in UK this week, supporting MGMT...heres what we said before when we first got the 12" in..."Four tracks from this upstart lone-gun lo-fi pop female. Her darkly sweet fuzzed-out melodies have been compared to Shop Assistants, Black Tambourine and early Primitives. Already heralded on Pitchfork, Victim of Time and Gorilla Vs. Bear so why not try to get in on the ground floor? Limited press, all silk-screened sleeves. Now signed to SUB POP...."
