Remember Remember are a Scottish band who dabble in soft, understated minimalism and light atmospherics. They also have a bit of post-rock in them. The first track has a motorik beat that reminds me of Stereolab or mebbe even Trans Am when they aren't being massive showy fucks. I reckon they also like a bit of Glass. Not in the pint glass wielding, stitch that Jimmy, psychotic Glaswegian type way. I meant their emotive compositions have more than a little Philip Glass in them. It's a pretty sweet EP this though. The tunes are great and three seconds into the closing track you find yourself falling into the welcoming arms of Remember Remember, and never wanting to be let go. It sounds well produced and it's a stirring call to all naysayers of this style of music. Sweet!
• Often compared to Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Animal Collective and even Michel Gondry, Remember Remember has received acclaim for his unique live shows where everything from hand-claps to Irn Bru are sampled, looped and blended into the performance, while his self-titled debut received critical plaudits upon its release on November the 5th 2008.
• This 12” follow up to his self-titled debut features four brand new tracks recorded at The Green Door Studio in Glasgow.
• For fans of Philip Glass, Yann Tiersen, Mice Parade.
• Released through Mogwai's Rock Action Records label, ‘RR Scorpii’ is available on heavy pressed, limited edition 12” vinyl (limited to 500 copies) and digital download.
