WeePOP's real stars (still) in waiting have always been The Just Joans. Even industo-head noisenik darklord Anthony has a soft spot for these. Probably because of the lassie's beautiful plaintive Scots voice. I don't blame him. She makes me feel a little weepy when she trills wonkily around the acoustic sea shanty-esque folk of the first track. Lovely mandolin on here, a charming song indeed. The drawling lad takes the stand next, his Glasgow slur topping a dinky waltser of a song. Next they join forces on a charmingly ragged ballad, His comical lovelorn lyrics being the perfect foil for her down-to-earth backing tones. I prefer it when she goes to the forefront for the tunes though. The wonderful 'Boyracer' will appeal to fans of Allo' Darlin' and Camera Obscura. 7 tracks all in all, varying from shambling indie to crooked folky numbers - it's a real MINI album (being 3"s wide and all that) Seriously, this band ALWAYS sell out of their releases quite quickly so don't dilly-dally. We only have a few!
* 1. Your pain is a joke next to mines
* 2. Wee Helen got married
* 3. Stuart had a dirty book
* 4. Boyracer (baby’s a)
* 5. States of undress
* 6. Why are we so lonely, Steven?
* 7. Every heartbeat
