Cold Seeds is a collaboration between King Creosote, Animal Magic Tricks and Neil Pennycook and Pete Harvey from Meursault – sort of a Scottish alt-folk supergroup, but more accidental than that.
This was recorded over two weekends in the living room at Song, by Toad in Edinburgh last year (you can actually hear Floyd the cat about three quarters of the way through the opening song).
For this record Neil, Kenny and Frances came with songs and they all improvised around the basic structures, changing around vocal duties, adding strange noises and, finally, Pete’s amazing cello parts.
This kind of collaboration is something Song, by Toad hopes to do more of. all parties are absolutely thrilled with the results - dirty, strange and absolutely beautiful.
