Water Borders - Akko

Akko by Water Borders

This one seems kinda mysterious, with a vague (but encouraging) press release and pleasantly odd artwork. Let's spin it up.. Ooh, it's dark! But interesting! The lead track's like some sort of bizarre combination of some that hypnogogic shite with some of that Zola Jesus-y neo-goth shite, some of that dubstep shite and a tiny pinch of some old industrial shite. It's certainly very unique and that's a pretty rare thing to be saying of music these days. Glasser joins in with the deep-voiced singer dude on 'Rome', which largely nixes the beats in favour of a reasonably disturbing soundscape that can't seem to make its mind up whether it wants to soundtrack a pleasant dream or the most upsetting of nightmares. The Petals remix brings a steadier, clubbier deep pulse while the Murlo mix goes all wacky 'n' wonky with it. Very much more than decent!

New 12" from San Francisco's Water Borders. Like Coil relocated to Bristol. UK Bass fresh off the boat, roaming the foggy docks of the northwest coast of America.

Tracklisting:

A1: Akko
A2: Rome (ft. Glasser)
B1: Akko (Petals remix)
B2: Rome (Murlo remix)
