The prolific David Wenngren is back under his Library Tapes alias after two years have passed since the last Library Tapes album. Not that the man hasn't been busy with collaborations and stuff, the highlight of which for me personally is the Murralin Lane album on 12k. As always here David comes up with a stirring collection of tracks that utilize field recordings, his highly skilled minimal piano playing and brittle electronics. The moods switch between lush and pastoral to the deeply introspective. Aided on a couple of tracks by Danny Norbury on Cello David displays his composition skills are right up there with the finest modern classical fellows like Max Richter etc. Seasoned fans and new followers will no doubt effortlessly become immersed in the fragile beauty that flows throughout the album. Recommended.

It’s been two years since the Library Tapes album, the critically acclaimed “A summer beneath the trees” was released. Since that David Wenngren have released a solo album, a collaboration album with Danny Norbury as Le Lendemain and signed for the prestigious label 12k with his project Murralin Lane. The new album called “Like green grass agains a blue sky” is like a mix of the older albums, there are some minimal piano pieces with the library tapes trademark field recordings, a couple of fuller solo pianos that focus more on melody and also two long piano pieces with cello added by the ever so talented Danny Norbury.
