Brainbombs - Singles Compilation

Our album of the week (3rd December 2010)

Singles Compilation by Brainbombs

5...according to our on Thu 02 Dec, 2010.

Ahhh the Brainbombs... Load pop their head out of water for the first time in a while to release a bunch of Brainbombs LPs because it's a really good idea that no-one else seems to be into getting involved with at the moment. Brainbombs are a raucous and highly entertaining Swedish noise rock band that like fucking with your mind and your ears. Musically the group craft fiendishly good repetitious noise rock in the mould of many of the bands that would later surface on the Load label, but they do it better. They utilise drums, bass, bottle-neck guitar scrapings and atonal trumpet outbursts to maximum effect, crushing opponents with their powerful sludge tones and brute riffage. Lyrically you might call Brainbombs offensive or crude, but I reckon most people who like the band find the lyrics and titles absolutely hilarious, me included... I mean their first single was called 'Jack The Ripper Lover' which is a fucking good way to start any career. This LP compiles singles from the first seven years of the band's existence - all impossibly hard to find individually and all amazingly good... Basically it's a must-have collection of terrifying dirge rock that should be embraced by all you fun-loving noise affectionados. They're exposed pretty much in their infancy here, yet they still rock balls! We also have a few copies of 'Urge To Kill' too. If you wanna hear the band at their finest then you should definitely check that one out. Cheers lads... Cheers Load.

The Brainbombs use a horn, scraping guitars and the mindset of a mentallyimpaired killer to bring some dark damage to the putrid remains of the corpse of rock music. When the band started, the Brainbombs were much more in line with the European industrial scene of the time. Though they use the tools of the rock trade, Brainbombs instead breath from the fart-helmet of minimal repetitious overload. To this a drugged-out horn floats in the mix. The collection of songs on this release documents the band’s first seven years. Subject matter is definitely for the mature listener, with sacred cows being punctured, slaughtered and violated. The lyrics are usually the deal breaker for most sensitive souls, though the brutish and wiry sounds compete with some of the best sounds off the Killed By Death series of records out of Hell, Norway. Brainbombs is not some garage fonzie KBD cover band, but a real deal noise pollutor. This is the first time this has ever been on vinyl, so don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime chance to own a gold bar made from filth.

• The singles collected in this collection are exceedingly hard to come by. Baseball card auction website, ebay.com regularly sells the 7”‘s for well over 800 krona They ’ve been out of print for years. All of them are on Swedish record labels.

• The Brainbombs have five full length records and have been in existence for over twenty four years. A second singles compilation exists (Polymagoo Reocrds), though this documents the bands primal start.

• This release contains tracks from their industrial rock beginning as part of the Cold Meat Industries scene in 1986 to their 1993 live 7” on Big Ball Records. Also bonus trax. The “B” Section in Record stores; Hudiksvall, Sweden
