This Is The Kit - Wriggle Out The Restless

Wriggle Out The Restless by This Is The Kit

This Is The Kit is Kate Stables. She has been turning heads in all the right places: A first album (Krülle Bol) produced by John Parish, singles (Two Wooden Spoons) released by Rob da Bank’s label Sunday Best and now, finally a long awaited second album on Dreamboat Records. Wriggle out the Restless is born out of a new, slower way of working. Gestated over a long period the album has drawn on This Is The Kit’s many musical friends (Rozi Plain [Fence], Jim Barr [Portishead] Francois [Fence] and The Lift men [Twisted Nerve]) to fill out their delicate music into a full, robust sound. “The aim was to have fun playing with people who’s work I really like” says Kate “the more you exchange and share with people the better things get and the more you learn.”

PRESS: “Absolutely gorgeous, like an aural bath with the warm water lapping over you” Cerys Matthews BBC 6 music With no notable production values, the dry female vocals recount a tale of soul mates, companionship and dependency, the feel enhanced by her occasional wavering and the fluttering 9/10 Drowned in Sound “This is the Kit should be knighted for the fact that they create that wonderful atmosphere with one singer, an acoustic guitar and percussion only.” Altsounds.com
