'Lay In A Shimmer' is one of the stand out tracks from this years 'Black Noise' LP. This 12" presents us with the original track as well as the 'Fata Morgana' version and two new bits entitled 'Sonnensturm' and 'Ursonate 3'. You should know the drill with PDP by now, expect intricate, delicate electronica with a smoothness rarely heard in modern dance music. Halfway between Keiran Hebden's recent minimalist techno output and the stuff you might be enjoying on Kompakt of late. 'Sonnensturm' is a brooding affair that still goes out of it's way to twinkle and shine a little whilst 'Ursonate 3' dwells for a while in the ambient zone before evolving into a minimal percussive beat driving affair. Everything here is a tranquil and listener friendly and will be enjoyed by all.

· ‘Lay In A Shimmer’ is taken from Pantha’s recent album
‘Black Noise’ which has been universally lauded as a
groundbreaking, seminal album in it’s field.

· Pantha Du Price will be on tour throughout September and
October in the US with Blonde Redhead.

· So far Pantha du Prince has been remixed by names such
as Animal Collective, Four Tet, Moritz Von Oswald,
Efdemin, Carsten Jost and Lawrence.

· Pantha Du Prince fuses house, techno, shoegazy
electronica and psychedelic electro-acoustic soundscapes
into music that is at once both beautiful and bewitching.

· Prior to signing to Rough Trade Records, he has released
several recordings through the respected German label
Dial Records, which is run by and for its artists. His
previous album ‘This Bliss’, was a bittersweet take on
techno, which appealed to both dancefloors and living
rooms alike and was hugely successful.

· As a result he has become an in-demand remixer also and
has mixed tracks for Depeche Mode, Animal Collective,
Bloc Party and Phantom/Ghost, amongst others.

· Geoff Travis, the founder of Rough Trade, signed Pantha
Du Prince and said the following about the newest addition
to the label: “When Rough Trade started we were very
much involved with the first wave of do it yourself
electronica, with Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle
amongst our early releases. It is nice to be able to return
to the fray with one of the most musically eloquent
practitioners in this field, Pantha Du Prince”.
