Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Year One

Scuzz-blues pioneers The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion are undertaking a unique reissue campaign, which began on April 5th with their collection Dirty Shirt Rock ‘n’ Roll: The First Ten Years (Catalogue Number: SHOV10).

On stage and in the studio, Jon Spencer has destroyed and rebuilt American roots music with such ferocity and wild abandon it is hard to believe that there is anything left. The trail of musical destruction he created with his legendary group Pussy Galore still smolders in the avant punk blues and nasty garage grind of the Blues Explosion, whose incredible, innovative output remains an indelible totem to his enormous mojo spirit and red-hot power of deliverance.

Of the campaign, Spencer says, “For me, it’s been a wild ride working on the reissues. There is a lot of power in the grooves of these records. The Blues are still No. 1.”

Year One features the original track listing of Reverse Willie Horton, the 1991 recordings with Steve Albini, tracks from a number of 7"s from the time, a Japanese bonus track and a previously unreleased recording of History of Sex.
