Damn! Superchunk!!! It seems like it's been a while since I heard from these guys and girl and what a happy day it is. Saw them at Primavera earlier in the year and i felt like I'd been transported back to a better time and place. Tim Harrington of Les Savy Fav sang a song with them and he looked like the happiest man in the world...i was super jealous. So, it's been nine years since Superchunk dropped a classic slice of U.S indie rock so it's only fair that they make it a good one eh? Well, this is certainly good, ace in fact. It's got the hairs on the back of my neck standing to attention. Opener 'Digging For Something' sounds completely familiar whilst sounding super fresh, packing serious hooks and top riffs. From there it remains consistent, fun and probably a little more accessible than anything that has come before it. 'Majesty Shredding' is basically the kind of return to form record i think we all deserve, especially with all the reforming for the sake of dollar business that is going on nowadays. It's so good to hear the original American college rock sound in all it's glory once more. It's like all those shitty years of emo punk and wotnot never happened. Thanks Superchunk, you fucking rule. Totally shredding!!
