Think I was one of the few who didn't "buy" this guys album. It sounded like a slightly whiffy stew, both dated & clumsy sounding with no definitive style or identity. I absolutely encourage genre-blending, I'm certainly no purist but i'm quite glad I don't have to listen to it again. This remix compendium works LOADS better. The stylistic shifts are to be expected from such a collection. There's oodles of disembodied chanting, mad sub-bass, itchy futuristic beats, mangled samples, sped-up ambient textures and a wide variety of forward thinking synth action & percussion. It really is a much more interesting listen than 'A Sufi & A Killer'. Well, how can you complain when you get Oneohtrix, Pritchard, Broadcast, Bibio, Shlomo & Bear in Heaven amongst others in the re-engineering committee? A worthy collection of experimental treats that makes for a coherent album!

· Gonjasufi (aka Mojave Desert based poet, yoga teacher and
vocalist Sumach Ecks) emerged this year with ‘A Sufi And A
Killer’, a debut album that garnered praise from all corners and
established him as one of the most exciting, captivating new
voices in music. Bridging the gaps between hiphop,
psychedelia, rock and countless other genres and drawing
influences from around the world, the album’s constant was
Sumach’s incomparable vocals - the same vocals that form the
spine of this new collection of remixes.

· ‘The Caliph’s Tea Party’ sees artists as diverse as Broadcast and The Focus Group, Mark Pritchard, Bibio and Bear In Heaven go to work deconstructing and reshaping songs around Gonjasufi’s vocals. The album also incorporates again the production work of Flying Lotus, The Gaslamp Killer and Mainframe.

· Both CD and vinyl come with deluxe foil block print. Vinyl
format is limited to 350 copies.
