Imaginational Anthem v 4 : New Possibilities by Various (C Joynes, Tyler Ramsey, William Tyler)

Folk me up then. This sweet new collection from Tompkins Square is the fifth in a series that has unearthed many avant garde acoustic gems. I mean who could forget Fingers Mcgees haunting ode to splitting up with his long time lover "The Hardest part About Breaking Up (is getting your stuff back) and Lil' Denny Sizemores overbearing religious ballad " I Saw A Man (Eating Rock Salmon with Rumpleforeskin). This amazing selection of sweet cuts is a one way ticket to folk guitar paradise. I thought it might be a punishing journey, but I was surprised to find that its actually a sweet as an apple pie jaunt across acoustic guitar vallhalla. Or summat. I reckon the title of this album should be "GuitarMeggedon". All the tracks have guitar mastery in abundance and some of the songs made me weep at the knees. It has songs from some people whose day jobs include Band Of Horses and Lambchop (pesky Lambchop..I hate that puppet.) Its a super sweet album, its a haunting and relaxing listen and I can say that its a rousing tour-de-force of folk based wonder.

Features C Joynes, Tyler Ramsey (Band of Horses), William Tyler (Lambchop, Silver Jews) Gatefold LP & CD Artwork by Paul Romano (Mastodon) Since its first volume in 2005, Tompkins Square's 'Imaginational Anthem' series has introduced many new acoustic guitarists, and unearthed many forgotten legends of the American Primitive genre. Vol 4 strays from the formula by focusing on the present generation of pickers, representing American and English musical traditions. The stunning gatefold LP (limited edition of 500) and CD are created by Paul Romano, best known for his incredible designs for Mastodon.
