Here We Are Together Again / Yellow Dollars by Ed Askew

4...according to our on Thu 17 Feb, 2011.

Can't find too much out about this dude but he's been making music since the late 60s. Having said that he's not released much... Just one LP on ESP Disk in 1968 and then an LP on De Stijl in 2005. What's he been doing in the meantime? I'd like to think he's been selling burgers in burger vans for the time in between (that's what all the best artists do and it's what I'm gonna do when I've had enough of this place) but I suspect he's not been doing that. Maybe someone out there on this thar internet will tell me! These 2 tracks were recorded from 1969 from the David Porter Show from what I can see. He makes a delicious brand of maudlin bleak poetical music with just him and his guitar. Fans of early more sparse Mountain Goats (before someone threw a load of instruments at them) will like this I reckon. Simple yet charming music!

This is the last of the vintage, tipple era Askew, before the fingers cramped and began tickling digital ivory. These 2 wondrous cuts would've been included on the Little Eyes CD if time were not space. Wonderful live versions, of "Here We Are Together Again" and "Yellow Dollars", taken from David Porter's Show on WYBC, Nov 1969. These songs are the topical concern of that or any era (Love and War) and what else is there anyway ?
