Bom bom, bom bom.. Loving the clangy, minimalistic post-punky bassline on this 'un. And the guitars which have been chorused to the point of sounding like they're pure liquid. With the messy DIY cut and paste artwork and odd all-round atmosphere of the thing it's got more than a touch of the hynogogic about it but it's far more maungy and gothy than most of that stuff. It totally sounds like some sort of ten-minute jam that The Cure might've come out with in their really early days if they'd have been so inclined. Good shit to be sure! Things are more purely synthy on the flip, with the first track almost being some sort of lo-fi dronefest and the second caning the arpeggiator in a bit of Oneohtrix-type action. Tidy.
On Világok One, Houston, Texas' Future Blondes have reduced the harsh and confrontational elements from previous recordings to an underlying tension. The three tracks on this 12” are made up of brooding synth loops and machine-pulse repetition, intertwined like the ingredients of a chemical formula. Like a spaced-out trip through endless intersections with fastfood fortresses on every corner and an ominous pink cloud hovering above, Világok will hypnotize you with post punk bass grooves and industrial beats, insisting to escort you towards illumination and love, tainted as it may be.
