I've just told Phil he's not allowed to mention Bat for Lashes whilst this is on. He proper fancies Natasha Khan he does, even though he denies it. Cameron Mesirow is the lass responsible for this sweet opus. There's also a distinct Bjork/CocoRosie element to this beautiful experimental pop, tropical folk & gentle spiritual tribalisms on this debut. Her crystalline vocals soar over pattering, pulsing percussion, the keyboards are lush, organic & emotive & the songs display a depth, maturity & passion that can't be faulted! Further comparisons are apt, as this is a varied yet cohesive record that may well also appeal to fans of the dreamier side of Zola Jesus, Telepathe & High Places' output! A truly enriching, wonderfully realised album!

Glasser is the one-woman orchestra of Cameron Mesirow, the
latest addition to the growing roster of True Panther Sounds
artists, joining the likes of Delorean, Girls and Magic Kids on the
New York based label now also operating from London.

Glasser entered public consciousness in 2009 with her debut
EP, ‘Apply’, and UK-only 12” ‘Tremel’ on the Young Turks label.
The intimate, luxurious music resonated widely, despite being
made alone by Cameron, between airplanes and shoe stores,
on Garage Band software. Her EPs and live shows earned her
attention from Fever Ray and Blonde Redhead producers Van
Rivers and The Subliminal Kid (who co-produced a few tracks
and the transitions on this album) and opening tour slots with
Delorean, Jónsi, and The xx.

In Glasser there exists both the optimism of a woman
captivated by creation and travel, as well as the anxiety that
accompanies nomadism and change. Of this duality, the New
York Times said “these are beautiful songs, both sweet and
abstract, deeply felt and anodyne.”

Somehow, in Glasser’s efforts to make sense of her world, she
has made an album with the universal lure of both a lullaby and
a hymn.

With ‘Ring’, Cameron worked to re-imagine her musical
arrangements and incorporate a wide array of organic percussion into her once-sparse recordings.

Her simple, minimal melodies and rapturous vocals are perfectly complimented by the album’s maximalist arrangements. The voice becomes a focal instrument, delivering abstract stories and sounds that drench the music in emotion without resorting to narrative clichés.
