The most Scottish sounding band on the planet are back with a new EP. Former Norman single of the week pinups they may be but the new stuff ain't tickling our collective fancy. All the same ingredients are there, big fat sounding drums, fuzzy guitars, the mega Scottish sounding vocals all wrapped up in a massive epic tune. I guess it's more of the same and it's not bad at all. It's not great though and I want to hear greatness! I do quite like the fuzzy sounding guitars caterwauling in the background though so it's not all bad. Limited 12" job on Fat Cat like.
Brand new EP from The Twilight Sad,
comprising unreleased material and guest remixes from Errors
and Mogwai.
‘The Wrong Car’ is a brand new EP made up of tracks taken
from the sessions leftover from The Twilight Sad’s last album,
the stunning ‘Forget The Night Ahead’, and exclusive remixes
from Errors, who give ‘Reflection Of The Television’ a distinct
makeover, and Mogwai, who tackle recent single ‘The Room’.
‘Throw Yourself in The Water Again’ is inspired by a line from
Camus’ ‘The Fall’ and features a video directed by David Lynch’s
grand-daughter, Nicola Collins, who helmed the documentary
‘The End’, and was also responsible for band’s ‘The Room’
short.
The band have just finished a UK tour supporting Biffy Clyro
and are now back on the road again in the USA with celebrated
Japanese instrumental band MONO.
The Twilight Sad recently toured the US with Mogwai, playing
shows attended by Yoko Ono and Thurston Moore. Previous
tours have included stadium shows with Snow Patrol and
Smashing Pumpkins and opening for genre-luminaries such
as Micah P. Hinson, David Pajo, Battles, Beirut, Mice Parade and
Idlewild, as well as packed-out headline shows.
The band’s live show is blisteringly intense, deafening and
tender in equal measure, often seeing the songs take on a
heart-stopping, epic life of their own amidst a towering wall of
noise.
‘Forget The Night Ahead’ was produced by guitarist Andy
MacFarlane with the assistance of The Delgados’ Paul Savage at
Scotland’s legendary Chem19 Studios.
