The electronic world needs Flying Lotus right now more than ever. He's been branded some kind of wonderkid, and in my mind that judgement is well valid, like Richard James before him, like Squarepusher. On this new gorgeously presented EP he can can noodle but it's all wrapped up in this hyper melodic & dreamy soundscapery that you cannot helped being yanked in by! Check the breathtaking delights on offer! The beats just tumble, flip 'n' clatter, synth lines wander deliriously into extended excitable codas & stoned giddyness! This guy does fresh, genuinely exciting shit - his LPs are each a beautifully constructed sonic collage, his EPs are more comprised of spiritually enriching, deftly zen club tracks. A true master, don't listen to the bores that dis him for being all over the shop & cluttered. He's proper future jazz braindance with an adventurous, yet everyman appeal.
· 2010 has reaffirmed Flying Lotus as one of the World’s
most important creative talents.
· With the recent album ‘Cosmogramma’ Flylo created a
self-proclaimed ‘space opera’ masterwork of
breathtaking scope, instrumentation and acclaim (#5
best reviewed album of the year, according to
Metacritic).
· On ‘Pattern+Grid World’ Lotus pulls the focus back to
his machines; a large proportion of the seven new
tracks have been a staple of this year’s live shows and
will finally be available for fans to own.
· Stunningly intricate art by Theo Ellsworth. The vinyl
version comes with an additional poster by the artist –
a certain collector’s item.
· Both CD and vinyl versions have additional spot
varnished sleeves.
