Top tits. I got the real nutters. The behemoth, legendary uber-nutters that all other nutters are measured by. Can you measure a nutter? Can you polish a fish? Can you defrost a toad? If you can then you will well be totally rewarded as this is probably their most accessible, sumptuous & mesmerising collection to date (and alas their last after Charles Gocher died 3 years ago) Finally untying all the rather unwieldy & complex knots that rendered chunks of their vast, esoteric back catalogue virtually unlistenable, impenetrable (or maybe just plain rubbish) whilst other batches of material such as the ridiculously fine Kicking the Dragon showcased some world-class genre blending, wily ethnic instrument fondling & stunningly inventive psychedelic/acid folk. This album definitely weighs in as one of their most streamlined & fully realised releases. There's an undeniable air of magic around this record. A tenderness & a spirit which is most captivating. It also lends added gravitas that this is their swan song - a beautiful, honest & dreamy record with plenty of gibbering flourishes to help guarantee the SCG seal of silliness.
