Hey the vinyl version of this is lovely. It's a big gatefold jobbie with a massive booklet inside full of stuff to keep you entertained whilst you're listening to the album. Genius... I liked this chap's last album. It was so infectiously happy and upbeat I couldn't but help fall for its busty charms. The first thing you'll notice about 'Pop Negro' when you whack it on is that it's sung in Spanish. A bold move and one that doesn't really matter in this case as the vocals seem pretty low in the mix and all you can really hear are these insanely bouncy catchy rhythms. I guess there's obvious nods to Animal Collective in there amongst the African style rhythms, funk bass, syncopated beats and party anthems. This guy is the musical equivalent of Duffman. You can't but help have a good time when Duffman is there. It's paaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrty time!!
· El Guincho’s ‘Pop Negro’ is a pop album sung in

· Tracks are based on big syncopated beats, loud
kick drums, snares and claps on a very wide stereo
image full of different synthesizer timbres,
subdivided hi-hats, funk bass, line recorded guitars
and multi tracked backing vocals. Production is
based on hi-fi aesthetics from the golden-era of
recordings.
· Available on CD and gatefold LP. The vinyl format
features de-bossed artwork and 24 page book.
