The big buzz surrounding this single is that Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) is one half of the unit, along with Joel Ford. I guess this is the sort of stuff that's being labelled as "chillwave", and from what I know about the scene it does fit in with the aesthetic. i.e super summery, dreamy synthesizer heavy pop. The vocal is barely decipherable and I'm really unsure as to whether it is a sample or not. I reckon this will surely appeal to fans of Washed Out more than Oneohtrix Point Never. The flipside 'Heartlands' has like a soul sampling vocal hook that recalls very early Boards Of Canada. It's all swathed in tropical heat, crystal blue seas and palm trees. Ltd edition of 500 copy's Heavy wax.
Oneohtrix Point Never teams up with long time collaborator Joel Ford with Games for their first release on Hippos In Tanks. Limited edition heavy 7" release, just 500 copies for the UK.
