Too Long In This Condition by Alasdair Roberts

5...according to our on Thu 12 Aug, 2010.

More Celtic Folk fun times from our man Alasdair Roberts. I've had the pleasure of seeing this guy a number of times and it's always a delightful experience. I'm pretty sure Mr. Roberts is incapable of making a bad record and obviously this one is no exception. In fact, the presence of a bunch of musician pals only serves to enhance the experience further with bizarre and interesting instruments (Lutherzither, Uilleann Pipes, Ozark harp and the concertina being the rarest of the sounds on offer here) adding texture to this collection of eleven ballads. I'm particularly amused by the nicknames given to the various players involved with Bill Lowman (a.k.a Fat Face) and Ben Reynolds (Bold Reynolds the Steel Fox) being my personal favourites. Alasdair's vocal is as beautifully consistent and coherent as ever and I'm sure further listens the lyrics will reveal fascinating stories and insights. Reliably awesome stuff. Always recommended.
