The Television Personalities - Fashion Conscious

Fashion Conscious by The Television Personalities

Television Personalities are quite possibly the finest cult band in the UK. Since forming in 1977, they have released ten studio albums involving numerous changes in personnel centered on the constant figure of songwriter Dan Treacy. Their blend of music has inspired generations of devotees, including everyone from Creation Records via Nirvanas' Kurt Cobain to MGMT, who have just recently dedicated the tune "Song For Dan Treacy" featured on their newest album "Congratulations", to the longtime leader of Television Personalities. This compilation includes all 20 tracks that have been recorded for Little Teddy Recordings between '93 & '97, which have previously only been available on numerous limited run long time out of print seven-inch vinyl singles & EPs. A crass meeting of ‘60s pastiche and a tongue-in-cheek nod towards punk has characterized Dan Treacy's Television Personalities over their long erratic career. With Ed Ball of The Times fame, the EP 'Where's Bill Grundy Now' was released in '78, featuring 'Part Time Punks', a send-up of the London scene at the time, which was championed by John Peel, attracting the attention of Rough Trade, who were quick to put out a succession of material, amongst which the whimsical 'I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives'. Years on, we bring you the ultimate collection of Television Personalities rare and highly sought after tracks. On one handy compilation, this anthology is an absolute must for part time punks and full time music-lovers alike!
