Greg Ginn is an originator. Single-handedly, although unintentionally, defining the “hardcore” genre with his creation of Black Flag-not to mention SST Records-Ginn ranks with artists like Robert Johnson and James Blood Ulmer (among many others) as a musician who broke down barriers to reveal something new-fangled and revolutionary in an already established music scene. Electric Cowbell Records is clanging with joy to release Greg Ginn's first 7" in over 20 years which features Greg playing bass, guitar, and organ. Freddie is a beautiful little cinematic/soundtracky gem that delivers a tinge of twang evoking slow motion tumbling tumbleweeds under a midnight sun. The second side, Tea, continues on this atmospheric thread but leans more towards a free jazz haiku of sorts. Slightly sweet, reflective melancholy from a true road warrior of the Oregon Trail of DIY.
