Split LP by Ty Segall / Black Time

Yes yes yes! Didn't realise this little baby even existed! This is the second (and final) pressing of a split between everyone's favorite Californian scuzz rocker Ty Segall and excellent brit-garage winners Black Time. The seven Ty tracks here are fully punishing lo-fi garage rock efforts with opener 'Schwag' and a bad-ass cover of The Avengers 'Be a Caveman' being the standout tracks on first listen. Again, the more i hear from Ty Segall the more convinced i am by his power! Good work sir. Black Time serve up six tracks of consistently delightful garage rock noise on the B-side. A band i play with have supported these guys in leeds years back and i'd assumed they'd split up but here they are totally kicking ass for the kids. Easily as scuzzy and out of control as other brit-garage faves The Hipshakes and Lovvers but scarier and louder than both bands put together. Black Time don't piss about. Fucking great split LP. Get It kid.

Second and final pressing of this very limited split album. Ty is on a huge upswing with Melted and playing tons of fests. It didn't take long for the first run to sell out, so act fast! Side A, stabs you in the eye with seven of Ty Segall's heaviest jams, including a cover of the Avengers "Be A Caveman" done more like the Dwarves version! Side B, sees UK veterans Black Time in fine form. Six unrelenting and distorted songs that are unmistakably Black Time. Limited to 500 copies, with a download code included. Press quotes  : "Part Nuggets revivification and part fuzz-pop trendiness. Oh sure, he could be compared with  contemporaries like Wavves and No Age, but "Goin' Down" toys with so many pre-punk influences that Segall sounds more like the a blasted-out Surfaris." - Pitchformedia.com  //  "With Segall on the A-side as gritty and abrasive as his S/T days and the noise-pop hooks from UK’s Black Time on the flip.  13 tracks between the two in limited form only pressed onto 500 copies.  The first ed. flew off shelves in no time and I expect this trend to hold."  -Weeklytapedeck.com  //  "SPLIT OF THE YEAR: Ty Segall/Black Time LP (Telephone Explosion) - Hey, if you're going to do something as ill-advised as release a split record, you might as well make it a 12". Some of my favorite (and "punkest") Ty cuts are on this ("Schwag" [or "Swag" if you prefer], "Goin Down", a great romp through "Be A Caveman") and not one of these tracks is a clunker. It was a genius move to wrap Segall's California sun with the stark black-and-white newspaper of Black Time fish-n-chips style, and a public service to put this cassette-only material to vinyl for posterity. "Glass Shatters" gets me every time." - Terminalboredom.com  //
