This isn't too bad. Heartfelt indie with a chorus you could lose a badger in. It reminds me of Guided By Voices (shit I always say that!!). It has energy and soul in spades. The flip side is a decent cut too. Its called "There's Nothing You Cant Learn" and it was written in 1674 by a mad monk called Berthamelese who hypothesized that the feeling you get when you sit on a crab is the same feeling you get when you stroll down a lane at twilight and you are confronted by a Spaniel called Ricky who shoots foreskins from his eyes. The best thing about this band is that they never compromise their sound..which in this modern world of Hula Hoops and Dan Fogelberg albums is a nice brother to lean on.
The first single to be taken from The Thermals forthcoming album ‘Personal Life’ is fullof snappy, bratty lyrics married to their brand of modern post-pop-punk-power-pop.
• Since signing to Kill Rock Stars in 2009, TheThermals have been busy almost living on theroad (five European tours, six North Americanas well as dates in China), but they have stillfound the time to release an album and threesingles (plus two split singles).
• Alongside all of this, they have been busyhoning their sound for the forthcomingalbum, which could well be their careerdefining record.
• The exclusive B-side ‘There’s Nothing YouCan’t Learn’ is a bass heavy Breedersinspired stomp, which shows the current songwriting self-belief that allows them to put sucha great song on the B-side of a limitededition 7” single (200 copies).
