These Au Revoir Simone remixes have, in my humble opinion, been pretty good from what I can tell. I've not really paid much attention to the group before but in Villa Nah's hands they sound like three whole bunches of fun, sitting somewhere between Tom Tom Club and UK synth pioneers The Pet shop Boys. Au Revoir Simone's original mix reminds me of a dream I once had where I was wearing a suit made of french ticklers whilst being chased down the street by a giant cheeseburger in RayBan sunglasses. It wasn't a man in a large novelty sized big burger outfit but a REAL JUICY burger with human legs and arms and a head with a face on it and hair and that. You'd think it'd be difficult to tell the difference between the two but in the dream it was obvious. When the burger with human legs and arms finally caught up with me it became evident he'd been trying to help me all along. Turns out I'd dropped my wallet in the bank and the burger-man had been kind enough to pick it up for me. What a burger. After thanking the life-size burger for his assistance I bought him an ice cream for his troubles and we took and stroll in the park and discussed our mutual appreciation for all things DMX. He told me he was launching a new kind of burger sauce with the help of DMX and the Ruff Ryders crew. Apparently it is both revolutionary and delicious.
Villa Nah recently had the pleasure to remix the wonderful Brooklyn based trio Au Revoir Simone. The track in question is called 'Tell Me', taken from their third album 'Still Night, Still Light'.
