The Samps EP is electro goodness turned up to 11. It made me want to start body popping and jive talking pretty much from the get go. But being an average homeboy the nearest I got to jive talking was back in '69 and I was looking at a pig in a sock. What I liked most about this record was the sense of fun emitting from its every groove. These chipmunks sound like they had a fucking ball making this record. It reminded me of every great Electro record I heard when the moon was young and I was even younger. They soundglitchy, yet totally dancable at the same time, even in the same bar of a song. If I was cruising about in a low rider with a crew and some 40 ozs this is the record I would want to listen to. The hand drawn sleeve is ace too. It also comes with the obligatory download code which will satiate your electro satisfaction...probably.
A hidden agenda from members of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, the Samps toe over the chillwave divide into legit, spaced out R&B dance jams, clipped together from uncharted sources and designed to insert the boogie back in your butt. Five tracks of computer funq, jittery rhythms, and heavy synth bass abuse, ready for the dancefloor in your room.
