Death in Plains - Mustard Polo EP

Mustard Polo EP by Death in Plains

4...according to our on Thu 08 Jul, 2010.

Death In Plains is the work of Enrico Boccioletti, a Pesaro-based musician with a taste for psychedelic 16-bit slow dances. This 10" features four party numbers that sit somewhere between recent taste makers Future Islands and Washed Out. It's part synthpop balladeering, part melancholic dancefloor fillers, basically. Heartfelt vocal melodies sit aloft chunky beats and sways of soft synthesizers creating a heavy, atmospheric brew below. The two tracks on the B-side pick things up with panicked, skittering beats mashed up with layers and layers of synth madness. It's hard to tell what to make of this on first listen but it's certainly a lively one. Kinda reminds me of the 'I want to get every idea I've got into one tune' attitude you get with Dan Deacon mixed with a desire to write genuinely heartfelt pop music, a la Neon Indian and the like. It's nice.

The 10" vinyl 'Mustard Polo EP' follows on from Death In Plains debut Winter release with us at DiscError Recordings. Beautifully medicated electronic experiment, poised to soundtrack a Summer.

Head over to the Death In Plains MySpace below for details on his upcoming Spring '10 European Tour, and be sure to catch his triumphant return to the ECC stage at Offset Festival 2010.
