Wilderness Heart by Black Mountain

Black Mountain are a ROCK band! And they don't mess about either. 'Wilderness Heart' is littered with blues influenced Led Zepp-a-like jams that will no doubt appeal to those of you with RAWK in your heart. I can't really decide how i feel about these lot but they certainly know what they are doing. The dual boy/girl vocals are righteous and flavorsome, the guitars are mammoth and vintage sounding, the drums are hard, the bass goe's almost undetected and the addition of Hammond organ and synths only add to the authenticity of their 70's rock aping sound. Obviously, tons of bands come to mind but i won't bore you with a list of trad rockers from the 70's, I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. In parts it's full on Deep Purple, Free style stuff and the rest touches on classic San Francisco psych influenced bits that verges on the epic at times. The new album comes with a bonus CD EP entitled 'Druganaut' which is an outstanding name for a single and surely worth the investment alone.
