Interpol - Interpol (#4)

Interpol (#4) by Interpol

4...according to our on Thu 09 Sep, 2010.

Comeback # 4. Yes everyone's fave doomy New Yorkers return with a new self-titled effort, their 4th. No symbolism ala Led Zep here, just a new swish designer typeface & deep, glossy, atmospheric, galloping, ecstatic, brooding, evocative, dynamic, stentorian, emotive & slick indie rock that somehow sounds less dense, more commercial - yet strangely it can often be as affecting & powerful as once before. Sadly the the metal loving Carlos D has now departed - he contributed his fine bass work then fucked off - leaving the renta-rocker extraordinaire David Pajo to display his magic fingers on their forthcoming tour. Once in my eyes an ingenious cross between Joy Division & Kitchens of Distinction, and solely responsible for the infuriating cuntwagon which is Editors, they've become a very important & influential band in their own right. That beautifully anthemic, oppressive & distinctive style of theirs is totally intact, residing more in upbeat territory than their last & I must comment this is an Interpol album that absolutely stands up next to the last two - probably more of a breath of fresh air than 'Antics' (but will never top their debut - Hardly any albums ever do though) Can see this pleasing the majority of fans - i'm a happy bunny!

Interpol will release their fourth, self-titled, studio record on September 13th through their own newly formed label, Soft Limit. The New York-based band announced the news of the album to fans on their website last week.

The album was recorded at Electric Lady Studios, New York, produced by Interpol, and mixed with Alan Moulder at Assault and Battery, London. The band will be touring in North America this summer and in the UK and Europe later in the year.

For the release of this record, the band are going back to their independent roots by releasing the album on their own, newly formed label, Soft Limit, licensed to Cooperative Music throughout the world - excluding North and South America.

The following was posted on their website last week :

"The month of September; summer ends, classes begin. The coming of a new season is in the air as autumn approaches. A time of year when the natural world slips into a slumber, and Interpol releases it's fourth studio recording. The self titled, self produced, long-player will be available world wide in mid September. We can't wait to share our new effort with all of you. We've just announced some shows and we look forward to see you soon in your neck of the woods."
