I can't believe I just typed 'burning lesbos' into our search engine. Here Burning Star Core forgo the blaring cosmic droney noise of theirs, which I tend to really like, in favour of a more free improv-y kinda thing which has C. Spencer Yeh scraping away unpleasantly on his frightening fiddle (Ant says it sounds like he's trying to force-feed it to a horse).. I'm getting a little bit of a Starving Weirdos vibe from it actually, as far as the unsettling atmosphere goes. Hey, it's got Trevor Tremaine from Hair Police drumming on it too! Good shit but I'm more taken with the primal thump of DEL's side which has me thinking of everyone from Cromagnon to Heavy Winged. Lasse Marhaug plays his 'space-machine' on that one but I'm not sure what that is. Whatever it is, I like it.
To celebrate the power and creative energy from both noise and rock unsafe territories here's the split release from
US underground heroes Burning Star Core and Norwegian free-improv act DEL on the grooves of that record.
Both bands are premiere names in experimental world, both blend wild rock energy with anarchic noise weirdness to produce
complex, explosive, multi-layered sound out of traditional instrumentary (violin, drums + guitars) and noisy, chaos-generating electronics.
This music is to celebrate the power of the primal natural forces and the creative energy of sexual instincts.
