This month sees the release of ‘Kennedy Green’, a unique project partnering stunning tracks with an inspiring story and a pledge to raise thousands of pounds for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent. For talented teenage singer Laura Green it all started with ‘Rocket Girl’ by the Wire Daisies. This one song recorded in 2004 at her Essex school and posted on You Tube to raise money in memory of her ten year-old school friend Declan Heath became a phenomenon after tens of thousands of people downloaded the video. Now 16, Laura has been joined by eighteen year-old vocalist Hannah Shayle-Kennedy to record an incredible collection of new songs. The 12 track album titled Kennedy Green includes a brand new version of the Wire Daisies Rocket Girl. With a summer of live performances to look forward to, the girls are excited about being part of history in the making. ‘To think that we could raise a huge amount of money for the charity that helped Declan and his family is what has inspired us all,’ says Hannah. ‘We are so proud of the album and what we have achieved so far – but we’re willing to keep working hard and the sky is the limit as far as we are concerned.’
Through donating all profits from the sales of the Kennedy Green album, the project aims to raise £30,000 for CLIC Sargent.
