This is wonderful. It's what you might call dub-tastic if you are the kind of person that says "Glasters" instead of Glastonbury. They have a production sound that is pretty hard to pin down. Its like being sandwiched between two different sound stages at some dub festival, with plenty of space echo and bass frequencies that make the teats swell. It's a summery, gleaming offering that makes you want to be on a beach with a cool drink and a snazzy Hawaiian shirt. It sounds great and is a fully rewarding listen.

El Guincho is set to release a series of limited edition EPs which will see him rearrange old South American songs - all acclaimed standards and lost classics.

· ‘Piratas de Sudamérica’ is the first 12” in this
new series and was recorded at El Guincho’s
Barcelona home in short bursts, with a deep love
of the original songs, but with limited frequency
response. The tracks were then all mixed down to
tape.

· Each of the EPs will feature five songs and will
include a couple of collaborations with artists
from all around the globe. On this first volume,
Julieta Venegas gives her touch to Miguel
Matamoros’ ‘Mientes’ and Adrián de Alfonso
inundates album closer ‘Marimba’ with his deep
timbre.

· The EP series will run concurrently to El Guincho’s
main albums and will all be available on limited
edition 12” vinyl (1000 copies each).
