Oh now this is exciting... I was wondering when another record by these guys would materialize. They've previously had 3 12" and a mix CD out on both Skam and sub-label 33 but their release schedule is sparse. They're a highly under-rated mysterious collective that make proper electronic future music. This EP is doing the business with it's dark atmospherics, solid beats and off kilter machine funk with an industrial edge. Expect class warped electro and downtempo dark techno hybrids. Highly recommended and will fit in nicely with your Gescom and Dual Purpose records.
* 150 only.
* NMB have been sleeping in bass bins again, there's nowt as cosy as those low frequencies when you need a power
kip, pre-rave.
* Aside from bobbin about in the darker corners of the shady Manc rave scene (you'll always find that they run the rig
with no lights at the end of the corridor - they're the crew rockin' the head to toe gortex) much time has been spent
skankin' around t'moors, northern mills, power stations and munitions stores and ridin' the top deck of the GMPTE's
finest.
* The NMB is now split across urban and rural locations, steadily moving northward. The witness relocation programme,
bus travel, industrial espionage and general NMB type activity whilst drawing them away from production, in an audio
sense, for some time is recorded on their project site www.manctransit.co.uk - nonetheless, the inadvertent diversions
that have consumed their time since NWH2O EP have been folded back into these beats. Recent encounters with armed
response have pushed them back underground and this might be the last recording for some time. Transpennine Express acid.

I'm none the wiser about the clientele behind this release, but it's one of the best EPs I've heard all year. Skam are very much a quality over quantity label these days, which I guess we've got to be grateful for, but I do sorta wish there were more Skam goods in the record shops, every release is guaranteed to put a smile on my face. This North Manc Beds EP holds six tracks of varying IDM stuff, which all seemed pretty squelchy and dancey until the final track, Rise Only Too Far I, dropped, and my head all but exploded trying to untangle the intertwined rhythms and beeps within. A special EP.
