I'm liking this new Toro Y Moi single. Two 60's rock infused Beach Boys summer jams to keep you tied over until a new LP hits the shelves. Both tracks have that Spector style production we are hearing so much of nowadays, he must be kicking himself in the old jail cell well everyone else goes and rips his production techniques....poor lad. Still, atleast he doesn't have to do another Starsailor album. Anyway, if you know your Toro Y Moi then you'll know what to expect and for those who aren't so familiar, get with the program Chet, this guy rules. Think Spectrals, Fresh and Only's, Panda Bear...that sort of thing.
* Carpark presents two vintage summer jams from Columbia, South Carolina’s Toro Y Moi (a.k.a. Chaz Bundick). And by vintage we mean 2006. Those thinking Toro Y Moi’s sound isall about his debut full length Causers Of This might be in for a bit of a surprise. You’ll find no electronic sounds obeats here. These songs have a classic early rock n roll feel to them with only electric guitar, bass, drums, and xylophone(!) as the instrumentation. Yet one more facet of the Toro Y Moi sound (and there are more) these tunes will prepare listeners for Toro Y Moi’s next full length, which will have yet another completely new vibe.
