This song (originally 'Porque Te Vas') is derived from a well loved Spanish film called 'Cria Cuervos'. It has supposedly been hijacked & corrupted by the dirty 8-bit dancehall deviant(s) that reside under the comical Jahmiga imprint. I'm confident this is another Disrupt endorsed spin-off label for the relatively "novelty" mash-up market. Didn't like the Doors one they did remotely whereas I fucking love this baby, it is delightful & a little magical! The vocals are indeed sultry & very sexy, the whole song skanks along with this gorgeous mid tempo lollop - there's a beautiful juxtaposition at work here where the itchy Caribbean rhythm sits beautifully with the faintly camp 70s Eurodisco vibe. Except it really doesn't come across like a cheap cut 'n' paste, more like a fabulous crate diggers curio from back in the day. A real good-time sweet vibez tune bursting with authenticity. Cracking instrumental dub on the flip too! My SOTW hands down innit...
This loveable 45 on the mysterious Jahmiga imprint contains a rough edged cover version of an undying 1974 Spanish dance classic, widely known from the movie "Cria Cuervos". After a string of corny English, German and even Soviet Russian versions during the 80s, this cut may just be one more in a long line of unnecessesary spin-offs - were it not for the irresistable charm of its digital laptop reggae treatment, which will make every stoner in the dance holler out with joy. With sexy female vocals of unknown origin, a pop factor that would put ABBA to shame, and an obscurity rating that will dazzle any self-respected vinyl collector, this cutie shouldn't be missing from any record crate that makes it's way down to the beach sound systems during the summer. Guaranteed dance Disruptor (hint!).
