Rag & Bone like to catch artists on the cusp of big tings, and there’s no exception here. Gremino first came to the label’s attention with the utterly stunning track ‘Shining’ which has turned up on mixes by the likes of Jam City and Dusk & Blackdown. Based in Finland, he has created an EP for Rag & Bone which smoothly counterpoints a whole range of influences from ripped up funky, dangerous garage, bad ass broken beat and echoes of 2-step, all fused together with a warped and inimitable style all of his own. The instant floor-killers ‘Hyper’ and ‘It’s Working’ each find funky vibes and chunky low slung breaks in collision to immediately adictive ffect. ‘Bleak Rocking’ displays Gremino’s pedigree as a producer by re-awakening the vibe of early Wizzbit/ Geeneus tracks from a time when 2-step, grime and dubstep were all just one big amorphous mass. And ‘Problem’ with its jackin’ groove and eerie melody is just totally in a league of its own. Busy with a swathe of forthcoming releases on Car Crash Set, Fortified Audio, Fyutchaflex, and Ruff Revival, Gremino has already snared the interest of the likes of Mosca, Ben UFO and Whistla, while also having Grevious Angel and Jam City on remix duty. Watch this guy. Close. “ ‘Bleak Rocking’ is an absolute beast of a track. Gremino takes influences from all over the shop – in particular funky, garage and 90s euro-rave – and condenses ‘em into sleek, devastating dancefloor missiles. Top gear this.” – FACT. “I don't know what kind of genre you'd call it; just some kind of ghetto B'more jungle at the wrong speed, I guess. It's not often I get a promo that just goes straight into the bag, but this is one!” - I.D (Bass Music Blog).
