You can always rely on Keiji Haino for some amazingly ridiculous titles but I think he's really outdone himself here. Take a bow 'Imperious doppelganger of tears, playing catch with objectivity that evades ultimate responsibility' and '"Without doubt", an attestation written from that time, will no longer have effect, because the wound has widened so much', to select but two highlights from a pool of many. I enjoyed the recent live document of his collaboration with Pansonic but for my money this studio session is even better and as one might expect from the clashings of these particular sonic heavyweights, it brings new meaning to the word 'intensity'. Pansonic generally seem to take the lead musically and their dull thuds underpin much of this material but Haino's huge personality is never too far from the fore, whether he's contributing his trademark screams and moans or not. Anyone who fancies a tip to the dark side will find plenty to get their teeth into with this impeccably packaged puppy.

Recorded only days after their performance together in Berlin that resulted in the powerful and haunting live album “ Shall I download a black hole and offer it to you?”.“In The Studio” is a more controlled, even tense, affair., where the participants circle each of like gladiators at the Colosseum. No more need be said I think than is contained within the fabulous track titles as offered forth by the mysterious Mr H:
