....Where oh where is fancy bread? Is it in the heart or in the head? I posed this question to a man with more than a passing resemblance to a Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksman once. He looked me up and down, said "Ipswich" then came at me with a spatula. This album is nothing like that crap anecdote. It's a collection of songs from Stephen Steinbrink that delight and really showcase his bedroom pop sensibilities and his knack for blending electronic elements and rhythms. It's a sweet selection of tunes that are reflections on touring and life at home and not wanting to die, yet longing to not get older. I quite liked this album. It's pretty strong songwriting, with a sweet lo-fi elements that should appeal to fans of Lou Barlow, Grandaddy etc.....
STEPHEN STEINBRINK resurrects the French Quarter name for the first time since 2008's s/t debut LP on GILGONGO. 8 national tours later, these 15 songs (which showcase his bedroom pop sensibilities blended with electronic elements and rhythms and are reflections on life on tour and at home, not wanting to die and not wanting to grow up) have been culled from various short-run tour exclusive CD'rs and a VHS tape release, and compiled here. Co-released with Life's Blood Records and Stephen's own imprint: No More Second Chances. ONE TIME PRESSING OF 600 copies. RIYL: Arthur Russell, Neil Young.
