This came in at the arse end of last week and got missed and seeing as though the picture disc arrived late it felt alright to squeeze a quick mention of this album in. It's cool! I heard some bits on their myspace but it was so hideously compressed it was kind of hard to hear what was going on. It's nice to hear the full thing as it's meant to be. It's essentially a massive party album with, loads of samples, phat hip hop beats which are far too loud (it's their schtick) and it's what makes the sound. The beats are so loud you can't but fail to groove to this 11 track swinger. Over these fat beats you get some sweet female vocals which have a real nursery rhyme feel to them. I can totally see why MIA picked up on these and signed 'em to her label N.E.E.T. 'Rill Rill' is essentially a massive Funkadelic sample and it works! Check out 'Crown On The Ground' for what sums up their sound in one song. Aceness.
Sleigh Bells release their brilliant x11 trk debut album in the UK "Treats", on Columbia Records via Mop+Pop Music. This Brooklyn duo will be one of the most talked about bands of 2010 & we are rush releasing the album now, with a 'soft' release, to satisfy demand. Discovered by MIA, they have created a massive buzz online & have played some blistering live shows that marry pop hooks, with brutal, hip-hop infected beats & extreme noise, to the point of distortion!
