Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first Beatles concerts in Hamburg, Germany, Hamburg-based record label Tapete Records stages a very
unique event & release this single.
- : Bambi Kino, comprised of members of Nada Surf, Cat Power, Maplewood and Moby, will play a run of four shows at the Indra venue in Hamburg
resurrecting the sound and spirit of those heady days in August 1960 by performing exactly the same songs that comprised the Beatles' set 50
years ago!
-Also, the band has produced a single (with Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne) which interprets the sound, style and spirit of the early
"Hamburg Beatles" perfectly. The tough, pulsating beat, the raw and souly harmony vocals and the rocking guitars in the Leiber/Stoller composition
"Some Other Guy" take the listener back to the dark backstreets and alleyways of London, Liverpool and early 60's Hamburg. The B-side "Falling In
Love Again" is the English version of the Friedrich Hollaender Standard "Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt". In the long, long nights on
stage in the early years in Hamburg the Beatles resorted to covering standards like "Falling In Love Again" to beef up their repertoire, honing the
versions to their sound. The Hamburg Beatles version of this song is to be heard on the "The Beatles at the Starclub 1962" LP, albeit in a much
slower, bluesy version. "Some Other Guy"/"Falling In Love Again" is available as a MONO 7'' single.
