Musician, songwriter and producer RICHARD WARREN is probably best known from his solo recordings on Mute Records, recording as ECHOBOY. During this time, he was also doing remixes and producing other bands (Starsailor, Doves, and Electrelane), as well as working on his own material. In 2003 he was invited by Jason Pierce to join SPIRITUALIZED on bass, touring throughout 2003-05, and he played on and co-engineered their 2008 album 'Songs in A&E'. During 2005-09 he also played guitar with SOULSAVERS with MARK LANEGAN, and co-wrote tracks on 'Broken'. (He was famously asked by Noel Gallagher to join Oasis, which led The Sun to claim "He's not mad for it, he's just mad", when he turned down the job.)
Now under his own name, he unleashes his emotionally raw debut solo album 'Laments'. From the explosive dirge-blues 'The Devil's My Shepherd' to the wistful rocker 'Nature Boy', 'Laments' is a cohesive whole, a thematically linked classic record that flows effortlessly from beginning to end.
From the beautiful country ballad 'How Could You Be So Blind', through the soulful 'It's A Crying Shame', the mournful blues of 'No Companion Like Solitude', the haunting existential post punk flavoured 'No Angel' and the stirring heretical song 'Brother Mary'; Warren's compositions cover a myriad of musical genres, from buzz saw 60's psychedelic rock to gentle southern soul. Touring in July and August.
