.....and they embarked on a one way mission into the darkest corners of the soul..and they concocted an album that sounds bleak, but blissed out, unerving but strangely uplifting. Aliteration aside, this slab of deep frequencies and otherworldly noises is a black hearted tour de force that combines the talents of Manda Beth Brown (LA Vampires) and Zola Jesus (AKA Nika Rosa Danilova) to maximum effect. If youre looking for classic songwriting fare, you had better get on the train of consequence and get the hell out of here. This is music that is genre defying and formless, it envelopes you in its life pipe smoking haze and demands you have a rising blow back on its lavish strain of potent force. It crawls out of the basement with a lower than lo fi ethic and a stark warning to any one that dares to be drawn into its landscape. The 7 tracks on this beauty are ambient works of brooding genius...there is even a sweet cover version of Dawn Penns "No No No". Its a great song in any form and these ladies make it seem a million times more mournful. To say this album is a work of soul baring/face peeling magic would be an understatment....
