Various - Dead Young Club Vol 2

Dead Young Club Vol 2 by Various

500 poster wrapped, hand stamped and numbered, wax sealed records with free download insert. Dead Young Records are an exciting Leeds based label with a penchant for putting on awesome shows, and generally cutting the mustard as up and coming taste makers. They released their first compilation featuring a small selection of bands who were very much part of the Dead Young Family. Since then they launched the career of Jonjo Feather and last year released their first long player from critically acclaimed band The Cubical. The label is set to release it’s second compilation with a new selection of bands who have the potential to escalate themselves and Dead Young Records up to the next level. Side A : Gringo Star – All Y’all All Y’all is the amazing title track from their self released US debut produced by Ben H. Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective). The Georgia foursome are famed for their energetic, instrument swapping live shows and have supported bands such as the Black Lips as well as headlining their own extensive tour. You can catch them on tour with Best Coast and at The Great Escape. They’ve taken the US by storm with a contemporary twist on a vintage style reminiscent of The Kinks and The Animals. //  The Cubical – Would Be Lovers - Would Be Lovers shows the softer side to the otherwise primal, psychedelic, blues ridden tracks that frequent their debut album Come Sing These Crippled Tunes. Recorded at Sunset Sound Studios in Hollywood with the infamous Dave Sardy (Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, Marilyn Manson), The Cubical scored fantastic reviews across the board which has set them up nicely for their second album and European tour. Enough to raise the ghost of Willie Dixon, track down Captain Beefheart circa Safe As Milk and have a chat with The La’s. And the singers raspy vocal might just shatter light bulbs – Mojo  //  Side B : WE//ARE//ANIMAL – 1268 - In Snowdonia, North Wales Owain Ginsberg used to trek up to quarries and forests with nothing but an 8 track recording machine and his guitar for company. Next came actual, physical band members in the form of the Hamer brothers (CASTLES), Sion Edwards on drums and Liam Simpson on keys. The strength of their demos alone got them played on Radio One who have since invited them to play One Big Weekend so it’s a real treat to get this awesome track from their debut album. Highlife guitars meet kraut-ish tendencies, synths and swooning vocal harmonies in W//A//A – Time Out //  Paul Thomas Saunders – Dementia, Depression, Psychosis, Blues - 20 year old Paul Thomas Saunders counts pop pioneer Joe Meek and the much loved Leonard Cohen amongst his main influences. Both are very apparent in his work which is poignantly intimate, majestically arranged and self recorded in his basement at home. After making waves at ITC, 2010 is proving to be a very busy year for this young man with a second EP planned alongside extensive touring. His whisky-soaked vocals belie his years, and the understated delicacy of his songs is a lovely treat – The Fly
